Our Unforgettable Language Trip to England
In September, we – the fourth-grade students – went on a language trip to Eastbourne, England. We wanted to improve our English skills and find out more about British culture.
We stayed with host families and on three mornings we attended lessons at a local language school. In the afternoons we explored our “new hometown” Eastbourne, some places nearby and of course – London!
One excursion led us to the Smugglers’ Caves in Hastings. There we walked through a cave and learned about its interesting history. Decades ago, people hid precious goods in there.
Our two trips to London were another highlight for us. On our first day there, we explored the city and saw many sights, such as Tower Bridge, The Tower, The Gherkin, St. Paul’s Cathedral and many more. On our second day in London, we rode the London Eye and visited even more sights, such as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, and Picadilly Circus. Also, we went to Covent Garden and Chinatown, where we could shop a bit and get something to eat.
On another trip, our group went up to the Seven Sisters, where we hiked on the famous cliffs to a lighthouse called “Beachy Head”. Our group was especially excited about the double-decker bus that took us to the Seven Sisters. It was so much fun to ride an open top bus. When we arrived at our destination, everyone was amazed by the view.
The trip was a fantastic experience for everyone. The weather was just amazing (we never needed our umbrellas, not even once (!). We just had so much fun and learned a lot of new things. Many students say that they will never forget this fun-filled trip.
